Dallington Residents Association (DRA)

 

What it is:

The Dallington Residents Association is an incorporate society whose tacit membership is every resident in Dallington. It is run by a committee who must be a group of Dallington residents, nominated and confirmed annually at its Annual General Meeting.

The Association has been running continuously since it was first established in 2000.

Its Purpose:

The purpose of the DRA is written in its Constitution.

This association interact with, represents and advocates for all the residents of Dallington.

Other than its residents it typically interacts with Dallington businesses, societies, the Coastal Burwood Community Board, the Christchurch City Council, and other neighbouring Residents Associations such as Burwood East, Avondale and Richmond.

Lately it also has direct contact with other parties interested in the Green Spine such as Regenerate Christchurch, LINZ, the Avon Otakaro Network and Eastern Vision.

The Dallington Community News

The Committee of the Dallington Residents Association write, and deliver the Dallington Newsletter four times per year to every household in Dallington, Golf Links, and Horseshoe Lake. (Approximately 1600 households).

The DRA is extremely grateful to another Dallington Resident, Helen Lee, who typesets, edits and produces the newsletter on its behalf.

The DRA also thanks the Christchurch City Council for covering the paper and printing costs of the newsletter.

Skip Day

Skip Day is a regular occurrence in Dallington each year and it is held as a part of Keep New Zealand Beautiful week.

Carols in the Park

Each year at the start of December the DRA brings some musical talent together in Burwood Park for a good old community sing along; to usher in the festive season.
